SARDINE JANE'S 688(I) CUSTOM MISSION UTILITY

------------------------------------------------
Installation:

Make a new folder on your hard drive.
Extract SARDINE.ZIP into your new folder.
Read this readme file.
Run setup.
------------------------------------------------

What sardine does:
------------------
* Allow you to insert/delete objects and goals and waypoints.
* Allow you to link those objects and goals together.
* Allow you to set goals that are dependent on other goals being completed.
* Allow you to change anything that in the mission that I know how to change.
* Allow you to reorder the goals. *** They come out in reverse order in game..
* Allow you to save your changes (very handy, that!)
* Allow you to edit the settings on a goal or objects.

What sardine has problems with:
-------------------------------
* I still don't understand coordinates, range or start time. These are showen to you as a Hexidecimal value. For range I have supplied some on the common ranges.
* I have not work out how to set goals with depth and/or time restraints. Remember the first training mission, where you have to come to PD depth? I will look into this for the next release.
* Some of the objectives do not work. I can't get a seal team to destory a object. :(
* I am not sure about setting a 'Tomahawk as reach this waypoint'.. Might work.
* You can't export the mission to a text file yet.
* You can't reorder waypoints yet.
* I have not done the easy 'Insert DSRV/SEAL mission' option yet, but you can still do them..

What is left to do:
-------------------
* All the things in the 'what sardine has problems with' section.
* Add a help file.
* Add some (heaps!) more pop-up hints.
* Make it so that you don't have to remove all goal dependancies in order to reorder the goals.

How to use sardine:
-------------------
* It is pretty simple (I hope). Those controls with a <- button, you can change the control to the right of it, click that button, and the changes will appear in the left control...
* So if you want to change the goal text, enter it into the right hand control, then press the button. It will copy the changes across.

How to use Sardine in 69 easy steps!
------------------------------------
Hey, lets create a mission where you have a intel message arrive when you enter hong kong harbour, insert a seal team, have the seal team destory some docs (WhoooHoo!) and then pick up the seal team, and then have you deploy a SLMM into the harbour!

Follow these steps:

1. Open Janes Mission Editor.
2. Locate Hong Kong Harbour ( 22-15N / 144-26E ) and load that region.
3. Add a building object near the shoreline. I put mine at 22-38 / 114-22.
4. Make the building object into Docks.
5. Right click on the docks, and click properties. Then click okay. This relocates the docks the exact location 22-38/114-22. This is very handy!
6. Next we will set our drop off point... Lets try 22-35/114-24. Put a contact mine at that location. Set its depth to 50 ft (Or it complains later when you go to save the mission)
7. Right click on the mine, and click properties.. Then okay.. That puts it in the extact point of 22-35/114-24. We are going to delete this mine later.
8. Now we need to set up where we want our intel message... Lets put it at 22-26/113-29. Put a Influence Mine there. Set its depth to 50, and center it in that spot, just like before.
9. Now we need to find were we want to have our SLMM resting place... Lets put a SLMM object at 22-32/114-25. Depth can stay at 100ft, but centre it in that coordinate, just like the others.
10. Okay, lets have some things to kill. Put a cruise ship outside the harbour somewhere, and a Krivak... Set them both threats.. Oh, put a threating whale inside the harbour, just for fun. Set them up however you like.
11. Put yourself, ie, your ownship at 22-26/114-29. Set your depth to 50.
12. Save the mission, and then either close janes, or press CTRL-I to minimise it.
13. Start Sardine, and load your saved mission.
14. Click on goals. You will see that there aren't any.
15. Click 'New Goal.' It will add one.
16. Change the goal text to 'Intelligence Update', and cick the button beside the goal text.
17. Select 'Influence' in the latitude dropdown list, and click on the botton beside it.
18. Select 'Influence' in the longtitude dropdown list, and click on the botton beside it. This sets the coordinates of our goal to the same location as the influence mine that we placed earlier.
19. Set the range to 5nm. (Select 5nm in the dropdown list, and click on its update button.. See a pattern here? *grin* )
20. The Objective is 'Arrive at Point', which is fine. Click on 'Send Intel Message.'
21. Type a message into the message box. I typed 'Welcome to Hong Kong, [ship name].' [ship name] will be replaced with the name of the ship during the mission. By leaving the score blank, we are telling Janes that we don't want the goal displayed in the CO's computer during the game.
22. Okay, click on 'New Goal' again. Time to add that seal team.
23. Change the goal text to 'Arrive at Dropoff Point'
24. Set the goal coords to the same coords as the contact mine.
25. Set the range to 1nm.
26. Change the object to 'Drop Seals'
27. Click on 'Critical Goal'
28. Change the score to 250 points.
29. Click on 'New Goal' Again.
30. Make the goal text read 'Destroy Docks'
31. In the 'Linked to object' dropdown box, select 'dock'
32. Set the coordinates of the goal to the same as that of the dock.
33. Set the objective to Object Destroyed.
34. Make the goal a critical goal, with a score of 250 points.
35. Click on the 'Depends on Previous' checkbox. This is very important! It tells the seal team that this goal is their objective....
36. Click on 'New Goal' yet again..
37. Make the text read 'Pickup Seals'
38. Make the coordinates the same as the contact mine.
39. Set the range to 1nm.. This either means that when the seals are within 1nm of this point they get picked up, or that when ownship is within 1nm of this point, it can collect the seals... Not sure which.
40. Make the objective 'Get Seals'
41. Make it a critical goal, with a score of 250...
42. Click the 'Depends on previous' checkbox. If you don't do this, then as soon as you launch the seals, they will be pick straight back up.
43. That is it for the seals. Now lets do the SLMM bit.. Click on 'New Goal'.
44. Change Goal Text to 'Place SLMM'.
45. Set the coords to the same as the SLMM we placed.
46. Set the range to 600 yards...
47. Set the Objective to 'Place SLMM'
48. Set the goal to critical.. And make the score 250..
49. Okay, not lets do some of that threat type stuff. Click on 'New Goal' again.
50. Change the goal text to 'Detected by Krivak'.
51. Link it to the Krivak.
52. Change the objective to 'Detects Player'.
53. Set the score to -100.
54. Click on 'New Goal' again..
55. Change the goal text to 'Attacked Cruise Ship'
56. Link the goal to the Cruise Ship.
57. Click on 'Object Attacked'
58. Change the score to -100.
59. Click 'New Goal' again.
60. Change the goal text to 'Killed Krivak'
61. Link it to the Krivak.
62. Make the objective 'Object Destroyed'.
63. Make the score 100 points.
64. That is it for goals. Go to the 'Objects Panel'
65. Select the 'Contact' object. This is the contact mine.
66. Click 'Deleet Object.' Then click 'Yes'
67. Now delete the influence and SLMM mines also.
68. Okay! That is it. Now you can click 'Save', and try your mission out!
69. Have a nice day!
